Our client, a well-established public accounting firm, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead a portfolio of owner-managed and small business clients. This role is ideal for a CPA who enjoys building long-term client relationships, providing trusted business advice, and mentoring a team while delivering high-quality accounting and tax services.
The Accounting Manager will oversee engagements from planning through completion, review financial reporting, provide strategic guidance to business owners, and ensure client deadlines are met. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take on a leadership role in a collaborative and client-focused environment.
This is an in office role located in Tillsonburg. This role can track to partner level.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of owner-managed and small business clients across a variety of industries.
- Review and oversee the preparation of:
- Notice to Reader (Compilation) engagements
- Review engagements
- Corporate financial statements
- Corporate tax returns (T2)
- Personal tax returns (T1)
- Provide proactive accounting, tax, and business advisory services to clients.
- Meet with business owners to discuss financial performance, tax planning, and operational matters.
- Review bookkeeping, month-end, and year-end working papers.
- Mentor, coach, and review the work of junior and intermediate staff.
- Manage engagement budgets, timelines, and client expectations.
- Identify opportunities to improve client processes and internal efficiencies.
- Assist partners with practice development and client relationship management.
- Ensure compliance with professional standards and firm policies.
- Support special projects and other advisory engagements as required.
Qualifications
- CPA designation required.
- 5–10+ years of progressive experience in a Canadian public accounting firm.
- Experience managing owner-managed business and private company clients.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian ASPE, corporate tax, and personal tax.
- Previous experience reviewing Compilation and Review Engagements.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
- Excellent client service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing deadlines.
Technical Skills
- Experience with CaseWare, CaseView, TaxPrep, or similar tax and engagement software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online/Desktop, Sage, Xero, or other cloud accounting platforms is an asset.
