CNC Programmer / Setup Technician (Part-Time / Per Setup Basis)

About Us
Acme Precision Products Ltd. is a CNC machine shop specializing in precision machined components for industrial and construction customers. We're looking for an experienced CNC Programmer/Setup Technician to assist on a per-setup basis, allowing us to increase production capacity while maintaining high quality.
Position
This is ideal for someone looking for evening, weekend, or side work. You'll be brought in only when new jobs require programming and machine setup.
Responsibilities
- Program CNC lathes using FANUC controls.
- Perform complete machine setups from drawing to first-off approval.
- Select tooling and establish efficient machining processes.
- Optimize cycle times while maintaining quality.
- Troubleshoot machining and setup issues.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Document setup information when required.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of CNC lathe setup and programming experience.
- Strong knowledge of FANUC controls.
- Able to program manually at the machine (required).
- Experience with G-code editing and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and use precision measuring instruments.
- Experience machining steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and plastics.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety conscious.
Preferred Qualifications
- CAM programming experience is an asset.
- Experience with production machining and job shop environments.
- Ability to improve tooling and machining efficiency.
Compensation
- Paid per completed setup (not hourly).
- Compensation based on job complexity and estimated setup time.
