Conversate Steak & Seafood, Hamilton’s premier fine dining restaurant, is seeking a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to help lead and inspire our culinary team. This role is ideal for a motivated professional with a commitment to excellence, strong leadership skills, and a genuine desire to learn and grow within a high-calibre kitchen.
About the Role
As Sous Chef, you will play a key leadership role in daily kitchen operations while upholding Conversate’s culinary standards and guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and excellence
- Train, mentor, and support kitchen team members to foster growth and accountability
- Maintain exceptional food quality through precise execution and attention to detail
- Manage food ordering, inventory, and kitchen cost controls
- Lead by example as a problem solver and collaborative team player
- Support a positive, professional, and respectful kitchen culture
- Demonstrate a deep passion for the guest experience through product knowledge and flawless execution
- Build strong team connections that encourage communication, trust, and teamwork
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 3 years of professional culinary experience
- Minimum 2 years of management or leadership experience
- A strong passion for food, hospitality, and team development
- A collaborative mindset with excellent communication and multitasking skills
- A commitment to creating a supportive and engaging environment for both guests and team members
- Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and grow through coaching and mentorship
- Food safety certification (e.g., Food Safe Level 1) is considered an asset
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
