We are currently looking for a reliable and hardworking General Helper to join our Fabrication Shop team.
The successful candidate will support daily shop operations by assisting with material handling, loading and unloading, organizing materials, maintaining clean and safe work areas, and providing general assistance to welders, fabricators, and other shop personnel.
Responsibilities
- Load, unload, move, and organize steel, fabricated components, supplies, and other materials.
- Assist welders, fabricators, and other shop personnel with general labour and material handling.
- Move materials throughout the fabrication shop and storage areas.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks.
- Sort, count, pack, unpack, and organize materials and finished products.
- Assist with preparing materials and fabricated components for storage or shipment.
- Use pallet jacks, carts, forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Remove scrap materials and dispose of waste in designated areas.
- Assist with inventory and material organization as required.
- Follow all company health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Wear required PPE and immediately report hazards or unsafe conditions.
- Perform other general shop duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a fabrication shop, manufacturing, warehouse, construction, or industrial environment is an asset.
- Experience with material handling is an asset.
- Forklift certification or experience is an asset.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely around machinery and moving equipment.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to safety and workplace housekeeping.
- Willingness to learn and take on a variety of shop tasks.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to safely lift and move materials as required.
- Comfortable working in an industrial fabrication shop environment.
Work Environment
This position is based in a fabrication shop and may involve exposure to noise, welding activities, dust, fumes, moving equipment, and heavy materials. Required PPE must be worn at all times.
