Job Overview
We are seeking a lead accountant (supported by an accountant assistant) detail-oriented and dependable Construction Accountant to join our growing flooring company. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction accounting and be highly proficient with QuickBooks. This position plays a key role in managing company finances, job costing, accounts payable and receivable, payroll support, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities
● Manage day-to-day accounting functions using QuickBooks.
● Process accounts payable, including supplier invoices and subcontractor payments.
● Manage accounts receivable and customer invoicing.
● Track job costs and monitor project profitability.
● Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts.
● Assist with payroll processing and maintain payroll records.
● Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
● File GST/HST remittances and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
● Collaborate with project managers to track project expenses and change orders.
● Maintain organized financial records and support year-end accounting activities.
● Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
Qualifications
● Minimum of 3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably within the construction or flooring industry.
● Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop).
● Strong understanding of job costing and construction accounting principles.
● Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
● Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
● Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
● Excellent communication and attention to detail.
● Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
● Experience with MeasureSquare or constr in uction management software is considered an asset.
