Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented TAB Technician specializing in air and water balancing to join our team. This role involves ensuring optimal performance of HVAC systems through precise balancing of air and water flows in commercial and industrial environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, experience with construction, and a solid understanding of HVAC systems. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects that require technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
Duties
- Perform air and water balancing for HVAC systems to meet specified performance criteria
- Use specialized tools and instrumentation to measure airflow, water flow, and system pressures
- Adjust dampers, valves, and other components to achieve proper system balance
- Interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to accurately install, troubleshoot, and repair system components
- Collaborate with construction teams during system installation or upgrades
- Diagnose mechanical issues related to appliances or HVAC components and implement effective repairs
- Document all work performed accurately for project records and compliance purposes
- The use of ladders is required to complete the task of Testing, Adjusting and Balancing of air and hydronic systems. All employees must possess the ability to safely exercise ladder usage.
Experience
- Post-secondary diploma in HVAC systems or equivalent work experience
- Strong background in HVAC or mechanical installation
- Familiarity with schematics, technical drawings, and blueprints relevant to HVAC and mechanical systems
- Knowledge of construction practices related to HVAC installation projects
- Prior experience working with HVAC schematics and troubleshooting complex mechanical systems is preferred
Working Conditions:
- Work environment: various commercial and industrial buildings, new construction sites or retrofit buildings, mechanical rooms, confined spaces, hospitals, etc. Our work is approximately 75% in the Edmonton area, 25% out of town.
- Working conditions may vary and based on the scope of each project, you may be required to work outside and be exposed to rain, snow, and extreme heat or cold.
- Work hours may vary based on the scope of work for each project and at times you will be required to work weekends, overnight shift work or early morning shift work.
- A variety of physical demands are required to completed the work on site: climbing ladders, climbing stairs, access building roofs, open ceiling tiles, use aerial platforms to access ventilation equipment, stand for long hours, work in confined spaces
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License and transportation as project locations vary throughout the edmonton Area.
- Must be able to lift, move, and carry equipment (up to 50 pounds)
- Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test as many industrial projects require pre access testing
This position requires a dedicated professional with excellent technical skills who can ensure the efficient operation of HVAC systems while adhering to safety standards.
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
