About Keats Learning Academy
Keats Learning Academy is a BC curriculum based tutoring academy with locations in Kitsilano and Lynn Valley, North Vancouver. We are not a tutor matching app. Students come to us for the same tutor every week, a written learning plan, structured booklets, and lesson notes their parents can actually read. We are building out our Kitsilano team for the school year.
The role
We are hiring a math and science tutor for students in Grades 8 through 12, working in person at our Kitsilano location, with occasional sessions at our Lynn Valley academy in North Vancouver.
Senior math is where we need the most help. If you are strong in Pre-Calculus 11 and 12 and Calculus 12, we want to talk to you. If you can also cover Chemistry 11 and 12 or Physics 11 and 12, that is a significant asset and it fills your schedule faster.
What you will do
- Tutor Grades 8 to 12 in math, one on one and in small groups
- Teach to the BC curriculum, including Pre-Calculus 11 and 12, Calculus 12, and the Grade 10 numeracy assessment
- Work in person at our Kitsilano location, with occasional sessions in Lynn Valley
- Write short lesson notes after each session so families can see progress
- Follow the written learning plan we build for each student, and flag when it needs to change
What we are looking for
- A university degree, or final year of a degree, in mathematics, science, engineering, education, or a closely related field
- Comfortable teaching to Grade 12. This role is senior level. We are not looking for tutors who stop at Grade 7 or 8.
- Prior teaching or tutoring experience is strongly preferred. Formal or informal, but you should be able to describe one student you moved and how you did it.
- Familiarity with the BC curriculum, or a genuine willingness to learn it properly
- Located in or near Kitsilano, or able to commute there reliably for after school and early evening sessions. Most of our hours run weekday afternoons and evenings, with some weekend availability.
- A valid criminal record check for working with children, or willingness to complete one before your first session. We cover the cost.
- Big asset: science as well as math. Chemistry 11 and 12 or Physics 11 and 12 alongside senior math gets you priority scheduling and more hours.
Hours and pay
- Starting wage $23.00 per hour, reviewed as your student load and subject range grow
- Roughly 8 to 15 hours per week to start, weekday afternoons and early evenings. We would rather tell you the honest number than promise you a full schedule we cannot fill.
- Hours grow with your roster. Tutors who cover both senior math and a science fill up fastest.
- Students are matched to you. You are not finding your own clients, chasing payments, or building your own materials.
- Paid as a part time employee with monthly payslips, not as a contractor
How to apply
Apply with your resume. In your application, tell us in two or three sentences about one student you tutored, what they were stuck on, and what changed. Please also list the specific senior courses you are confident teaching, for example Pre-Calculus 12 or Chemistry 11
Pay: $23.00-$30.00 per hour
