POSITION SUMMARY
As a Project Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the bidding process for greenhouse and commercial building projects. Your responsibilities will involve working closely with a team of sales and estimation specialists to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness of project estimates.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Estimation Assistance: Support the sales and estimation team in the bidding process for greenhouse and commercial building projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness of estimates.
- Plan and Specification Review: Review plans and specifications with customers to ensure alignment with project and budget requirements.
- Project Analysis: Analyze project requirements, specifications, and drawings to contribute to the development of detailed and precise cost estimates.
- Budgeting Support: Collaborate with project stakeholders to provide input on project budgets and offer recommendations to optimize cost-effectiveness.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare and coordinate bid proposals, including cost breakdowns, material quantities, labour requirements, subcontractor pricing, and supporting documentation.
- Vendor and Supplier Relations: Support the cultivation of relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure availability of materials and services.
- Risk Identification: Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimation, contributing to proactive solutions to minimize cost overruns and delays.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements to contribute to the enhancement of estimation processes.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to support estimation efforts aligned with project goals and objectives.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimation data, including cost databases, historical pricing information, and project documentation for future reference and analysis.
- Tool Development Support: contribute to the development and updating of calculation tools for estimating costs of standard manufactured items, contributing to streamlining the estimation process and ensuring consistency and accuracy.
- Project Kickoff Support: Assist in coordinating with purchasing and engineering teams to initiate projects after they are sold, ensuring a smooth transition from estimation to project execution.
- Project Monitoring Support: Continue to monitor projects and handle change orders and additions to the scope throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with budgetary requirements and customer expectations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Training in construction management, engineering or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years in construction estimating or related field
TECHNICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with construction methods, materials, and costs.
- Proficiency in estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and other Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- Detail-oriented with problem-solving skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work environment: Office
- Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Travel: Minimal travel required. Occasional local/regional travel may be required for customer meetings, job site visits, field measurements, trade shows, and project-related support.

Pay: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
