Join Our Team: Senior Outdoor Operations Manager
Location: Trail Hub, Uxbridge, ON
Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Compensation: $33.00–$39.00 /hour equivalent), based on experience
About Trail Hub
Trail Hub is a one-of-a-kind destination located in the conservation forests outside Uxbridge, Ontario. Situated on 140 acres of private land with direct access to more than 240 km of surrounding trails, Trail Hub brings together outdoor recreation, hospitality, events, and community in one unique destination.
Our property includes mountain bike trails, hiking, disc golf, outdoor events, recreation programming, Nest restaurant, weddings and private events, and a growing number of year-round experiences.
As Trail Hub continues to grow, so does the complexity of operating the property. We are looking for an experienced outdoor operations leader who can help us build the team, systems, and standards required for the next stage of that growth.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Outdoor Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day outdoor operations of Trail Hub.
This is a leadership role, but it is not a desk job.
We are looking for someone who can manage people, organize work, establish standards, solve problems, and hold a team accountable while also being willing and capable of getting outside and doing the work themselves.
One day you may be planning staffing, coordinating projects, or prioritizing the team's workload. The next you may be operating equipment, inspecting trails, addressing a property issue, preparing for an event, or working alongside the team to get something finished.
The right person takes pride in the property and treats it as though it were their own.
This is intended to be a long-term career opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of an important part of a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, schedule, and develop Trail Hub's outdoor operations team
- Establish clear expectations, operating standards, preventative maintenance routines, and accountability across the department
- Plan and prioritize daily, weekly, and seasonal outdoor operations
- Oversee the maintenance and presentation of Trail Hub's grounds, trails, outdoor spaces, roadways, parking areas, and recreation infrastructure
- Coordinate trail maintenance, property maintenance, landscaping, snow removal, waste management, equipment use, and general site upkeep
- Operate equipment and work alongside the team when required
- Identify property and operational issues early and take ownership of solving them
- Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and external trades when specialized work is required
- Ensure tools, vehicles, machinery, and equipment are properly maintained, organized, and ready for use
- Support outdoor event setup, logistics, site preparation, parking, and operational requirements
- Help build repeatable processes and systems as Trail Hub continues to grow
- Maintain a safe, organized, professional, and guest-ready property
- Work collaboratively with recreation, hospitality, events, and other Trail Hub departments
- Manage operational priorities without losing sight of the details that affect the guest experience
What We're Looking For
We care less about a specific career path and more about whether you have demonstrated that you can lead people and get things done.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Several years of experience leading teams in outdoor operations, property management, landscaping, construction, recreation, resorts, parks, facilities, agriculture, or a related environment
- Demonstrated experience managing people, setting expectations, delegating work, and holding teams accountable
- A strong mechanical and practical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot problems in the field
- Experience safely operating outdoor equipment, machinery, vehicles, and tools
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Good judgment and the ability to prioritize when several things need attention at once
- A high standard for cleanliness, organization, maintenance, and property presentation
- Clear and confident communication skills
- The ability to work independently without requiring constant direction
- Comfort working outdoors throughout the year and in changing weather conditions
- A valid Ontario driver's licence
- Flexibility to work occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, or weather-dependent shifts when operations require it
Experience with tractors, skid steers, compact equipment, snow removal equipment, chainsaws, trail-building equipment, or similar machinery is considered an asset.
The Person We're Looking For
You are someone who notices things.
If something is broken, out of place, unsafe, inefficient, or below standard, you don't walk past it assuming someone else will deal with it.
You take ownership.
You can lead from the front without feeling the need to do everything yourself. You know how to build a strong team, delegate effectively, develop people, and create systems that make the operation better over time.
Most importantly, you are looking for more than your next job. You want an opportunity to build something, take responsibility for it, and grow with an organization over the long term.
Why Join Trail Hub?
- Build a career in one of Ontario's most unique outdoor hospitality and recreation destinations
- Lead and shape an important operational department as the organization continues to grow
- Work in a 140-acre outdoor environment rather than behind a desk every day
- Join a growing organization where strong performers can take on greater responsibility
- Work alongside a team passionate about hospitality, recreation, events, and creating exceptional guest experiences
- Enjoy access to Trail Hub's outdoor recreation experiences and staff perks
