HCOS has an opening for a full-time, Web Designer. This is a remote, permanent position, working 40 hours per week. The primary purpose of the Web Designer is to innovate, conceptualize, and design engaging digital visual content and functional websites across multiple media, aligned with HCOS’s goals and mission. Utilizing a proven design process and cross-functional project management, they collaborate with teams to ensure the on-time delivery of high-quality user experiences while providing valuable design feedback and insight.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives
Develop creative, user-friendly website designs and responsive layouts that align with the brand vision, optimizing for maximum usability, performance, and digital accessibility
Design and produce high-quality web graphics, interactive images, and multimedia content to enhance page engagement
Utilize user research and current web trends to validate design decisions and continuously improve the user experience
Create structured documentation, Figma component libraries, and optimized web assets to ensure scalable design systems and fast site performance
Provide ongoing design support and maintenance for existing websites
Explain creative choices and provide strong feedback through design terminology and principles to team members
Other related duties as required
Qualifications
Demonstrates a commitment to, and a lifestyle reflective of, the KCCS Foundational Beliefs
Comprehensive experience building, managing, and maintaining professional websites within the WordPress ecosystem
Advanced skills using Elementor Pro to build responsive layouts, custom templates, and seamless user interfaces
Hands-on experience using Crocoblock’s JetEngine to build custom content types (CTTs), custom taxonomies, dynamic listings, and relational data structures is considered an asset
Proven ability to source, configure, test, and troubleshoot third-party WordPress plugins for enhanced functionality, speed optimization, and security is considered an asset
Understanding of brand principles and art direction to ensure consistent design and messaging
Passionate about web, design and digital art, and a willingness to learn
A strategic thinker with the ability to connect design decisions to broader goals is considered an asset
Knowledge of current web design, interactive UI, and digital art trends.
Excellent time and priority management skills
Ability to change pace or direction, and eager to learn and grow
Strong ability to collaborate and communicate in a positive manner
Provide constructive feedback to improve all aspects of design
Attention to detail
Expert skill set in Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, among other image-making software
Ability to leverage generative AI tools (such as Gemini, Claude, Figma Agent and Adobe AI) to streamline workflows, rapidly prototype layouts, generate content, and troubleshoot front-end code (HTML/CSS) will be considered an asset
Understanding of design principles, including visual hierarchy, colour use, and typography
A strong portfolio featuring web design layouts, digital interface mockups, and web-optimized graphics or UI illustrations.
What We Offer:
Competitive wage: $65,189 – $68,559 per year
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Working hours: Standard business hours, Pacific Time (approximately 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), with some flexibility as needed.
