About Hanover & District Hospital
Hanover & District Hospital is a fully accredited community hospital providing comprehensive
inpatient and outpatient services to Hanover and the surrounding region. HDH operates a 24-bed
Acute Care Unit, including 24 medical-surgical beds, supported by modern diagnostic and clinical
technology. The hospital maintains a 24/7 Emergency Department and offers surgical services,
family-centred birthing, hemodialysis, physiotherapy, palliative care, and other specialized
programs. HDH has achieved Accreditation Canada's highest designation, Exemplary Standing, in
four consecutive accreditation cycles.
Position Summary
Hospitalists are responsible for providing comprehensive inpatient care as the Most Responsible
Physician (MRP) for admitted patients. Physicians work collaboratively with nursing, allied health
professionals, specialists, primary care providers, and community partners to ensure safe,
effective, and patient-centred care throughout the patient journey.
Responsibilities
- Admit, assess, and manage hospitalized medical patients on site
- Provide daily inpatient care and participate in multidisciplinary rounds
- Coordinate consultations and collaborate with specialist services
- Develop and implement treatment and discharge plans
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Support patient flow and transition planning
