Position Overview
Hiring from within Edmonton area, R3 Deconstruction is looking for an experienced Demolition Foreman who knows how to lead a crew, organize the work, and keep a job moving safely.
You will be responsible for turning the scope into a workable plan, organizing the crew, coordinating tools and equipment, and keeping the job moving safely and efficiently. Some days will involve selective demolition in active buildings; others may require heavier removals, tight-access planning, changing site conditions, or coordination with multiple trades.
This is a hands-on working supervisor role. You will be expected to lead the crew, make practical field decisions, solve problems as they come up, use proper documentation and step into the work when needed. The successful Foreman will take ownership of the site, communicate early when something changes, and make sure the work is completed safely, properly, and to R3 standards.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Lead and organize the crew. Assign work clearly, set expectations, and make sure employees understand their responsibilities, the hazards involved, and the standard of work required.
- Plan and coordinate the daily work. Organize labour, equipment, materials, and site resources to keep the project moving safely and efficiently.
- Set the standard for safety. Lead toolbox meetings, reinforce safe work practices, proper PPE is worn, and make sure company and site safety requirements are followed throughout the shift.
- Read, interpret, and mark up project drawings. Use blueprints, specifications, and scopes of work to plan the job, track progress, and make sure the work is completed accurately.
- Keep the project team informed. Coordinate with Project Managers, site supervision, and safety personnel on scheduling, progress, changing conditions, and any issues affecting the work.
- Monitor the work and adjust as needed. Keep a close eye on productivity, quality, safety, and job progress, and address concerns before they become larger problems.
- Train, coach, and mentor the crew. Help employees build their technical skills, understand safe work practices, and become more confident and capable in the field.
- Keep tools, equipment, and materials job-ready. Confirm equipment is inspected, used properly, and maintained, and make sure the crew has what they need to complete the work.
- Maintain accurate site records. Complete daily reports, timesheets, safety documentation, and incident reports accurately and on time.
- Represent R3 professionally on site. Build respectful working relationships with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, and regulatory personnel while protecting R3’s reputation.
What We’re Looking For
- At least three years of hands-on experience in demolition, deconstruction, construction, or a related field.
- At least two years of crew leadership experience as a Foreman, Lead Hand, Crew Lead, or Site Supervisor.
- The ability to read, interpret, and mark up blueprints, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
- Strong safety leadership. You can identify hazards, lead toolbox talks, enforce safe work practices, and stop unsafe work when needed.
- Clear, respectful communication with employees, Project Managers, clients, site supervision, inspectors, and other trades.
- Confidence leading a crew. You give clear direction, set expectations, and address safety, productivity, quality, or conduct concerns early.
- Good field judgment. You can solve day-to-day problems, adapt to changing conditions, and know when to involve management.
- A willingness to train and develop others. You enjoy sharing your knowledge and helping employees become safer, stronger, and more independent.
- Comfort using mobile devices and digital reporting systems for site communication and documentation.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation to different project locations.
- The ability to perform physical field work and work overtime or out of town when project schedules require it.
