Position Summary: A Turf Care Labourer is responsible to perform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance; do semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operate small hand-powered equipment; and perform work involving large equipment such as tractors, loaders and fairway, green, tee and rough mowers.
Pay for this position is $20.00 per hour.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operates mowers and other equipment to trim around greens, aprons, tees, around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides;

Edges cart paths;

Edges, rakes and maintains sand bunkers;

Sets tee markers and cups on the greens daily;

Maintains ball washers; replaces tee towels and flags when needed;

Removes debris and empties garbage receptacles;

Mows greens, tees, fairways, and rough with appropriate mower;

Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis;

Reports equipment problems or failure to the Equipment Mechanic or Supervisor immediately;

Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility;

Cleans the maintenance areas;

Helps in project work;

Assists in the construction of new greens, tees, bunkers and fairways; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; and seeds tees, greens and fairways;

Installs forms and lays walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes; excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools;

Repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems.

Co-operate and accept other assignments as and when required.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
Knowledge of:

Methods and materials used in grounds and landscaped area.

General repair and maintenance procedures.
Ability to:

Perform work requiring a high degree of physical stamina outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
Additional Requirements:
- This position may require the use of FHS Golf Management vehicles. If this is the case, a Grounds Labourer must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for FHS Golf Management business will be prohibited if the Grounds Labourer is not authorized to drive a vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.
