POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager in overseeing residential renovation projects from start to finish, helping ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. This role handles day-to-day coordination, scheduling, documentation, and client communication tasks so the Project Manager can focus on higher-level project and client management, while also developing the skills and experience needed to progress into a full Project Manager role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Support & Coordination
· Assist the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and coordinating all phases of assigned renovation projects
· Coordinate and confirm trade and subcontractor schedules to keep projects on track
· Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to plans and specifications
· Track project milestones and flag potential delays or scheduling conflicts before they impact the timeline
· Support the Project Manager in managing multiple projects simultaneously
Client Communication
· Serve as a secondary point of contact for clients during construction, keeping the Project Manager informed of client concerns
· Provide clients with regular progress updates and respond promptly to questions
· Help manage client expectations regarding timelines, budgets, and scope
· Escalate significant client issues or scope changes to the Project Manager in a timely manner
Administrative & Documentation
· Maintain accurate and organized project files, including contracts, permits, drawings, and specifications
· Update project management software (Buildertrend) with current schedules, notes, and status
· Process and track change orders, purchase orders, and invoices in coordination with the Project Manager
· Prepare and distribute meeting notes, punch lists, and progress reports
· Coordinate inspections and approvals with municipal building departments
Quality & Safety
· Support quality control walkthroughs and help manage punch lists to completion
· Help ensure job sites follow company safety standards and applicable codes
· Report safety concerns or code issues to the Project Manager immediately
Teamwork & Professionalism
· Work collaboratively with the Project Manager, trades, and office staff
· Represent the company professionally with clients, suppliers, and trade partners
· Take direction well while showing initiative and sound judgment
· Continue developing project management skills and knowledge with the goal of career progression
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
· PMP certification from a college or university
· Post-secondary education or coursework in construction management, architecture, or a related field an asset
Experience:
· 1-3 years of experience in residential construction, renovation, or a related field
· Prior experience as a project coordinator, site supervisor, or in a trade preferred
· Experience with project management software (e.g., Buildertrend) an asset

· Basic knowledge of construction materials and methods
· Basic understanding of construction budgeting and scheduling
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Ability to visit construction sites regularly, including walking on uneven surfaces
· Capacity to climb ladders and stairs
· Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds occasionally
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
· Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Office environment with regular visits to active construction sites
· Exposure to construction site conditions including dust, noise, and varying temperatures
· May require occasional evening or weekend work to meet project deadlines
· Standard business hours with flexibility as projects demand

Pay: $55,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
