About SBA: Students for Barrier Free Access (SBA) at the University of Toronto is a student-led, volunteer-driven, non-profit which advocates for intersectional access, equity and inclusion. We advocate for disability justice and all of our programming and advocacy is shaped through this framework.
The Role We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Finance Coordinator to join our team. In this part-time role, you will be the backbone of our financial operations, requiring 7 hours per week. You will work closely with the Treasurer and the Board of Directors to ensure the financial health, accuracy, and compliance of SBA.
Position Details
$23.50 hourly / 7 hours per week (plus $100 monthly wellness stipend, transit reimbursement, $1.50 per hour RRSP contribution, and paid leave)
Remote with in-person option if desired.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations & Bookkeeping
- Carry out day-to-day bookkeeping, accounting, and banking for SBA.
- Coordinate accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Ensure the timely payment of all bills, invoices, dues, and service contracts.
- Maintain highly accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Payroll, Taxes & Compliance
- Coordinate payroll processing and all necessary CRA remittances.
- Prepare and submit required tax, personnel, and financial reports to relevant government agencies.
- Carry out monthly bank reconciliations and prepare the month-end reporting package for the Treasurer.
- Prepare all necessary documentation and records for the annual SBA audit.
Budgeting & Board Support
- Design the yearly budget based on priorities identified by the Board of Directors.
- Collaborate with the Treasurer to manage and maintain the overall SBA budget throughout the year.
- Support the Treasurer in providing bi-weekly financial reports to the Board of Directors.
- Maintain the organizational connection to both UTSU and GSU, ensuring the Memorandum of Agreements are updated and managed each year.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related financial role.
- Familiarity with CRA reporting, payroll processing, and basic tax regulations.
- Strong organizational skills and an excellent eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines within a limited weekly time frame.
- Bonus: Previous experience working with student organizations, non-profits, or familiarity with UTSU/GSU structures.
