Modern dairy farm seeking a full-time Senior Herdsperson to join our dedicated team. We operate a progressive 250-cow dairy in a modern robotic milking facility equipped with the latest technology.
As a Senior Herdsperson / Lead Herdsperson, you will be responsible for the daily care and management of our milking herd, and heifers while assisting in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the farm. This role includes monitoring herd health, troubleshooting robotic milking systems, coordinating daily tasks, and working with other staff members. We are looking for an individual who takes pride in their work, has strong leadership and problem-solving skills, and can work independently to ensure the efficient operation of a modern dairy facility. We are looking for a motivated professional individual.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily care and management of dairy cows, and heifers
- Monitor animal health and report concerns promptly
- Feed livestock using a self-propelled mixer
- Operate tractors and other farm machinery safely and efficiently
- Troubleshoot and monitor robotic milking systems and associated technology to ensure efficient operation
- Oversee daily farm operations and ensure work is completed efficiently and to a high standard
- Provide support to other farm staff as required
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on farm equipment and facilities
- Assist with field work and seasonal farm operations
- Complete general farm duties, including physical labor and heavy lifting
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment
Qualifications Required
- Valid driver's licence
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Experienced and comfortable operating large farm equipment
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and lead by example
- Able to perform physically demanding work
Assets
- Dairy farm experience is a must
- Tractor and farm equipment experience is a must
- Breeding experience or certification or willingness to learn
- Experience overseeing farm operations
- Post-secondary education in Agriculture or a related field or relevant experience
Experience is required for the majority of the key responsibilities we are looking for a candidate who has previous dairy farm and equipment experience. We are looking for someone who is seeking long term employment. This position is set to start beginning to mid October, 2026.
Schedule
- Full-time position
- Every other weekend required
- Typical shift: 5:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Hours may vary seasonally
- Extended hours required during busy seasons
Compensation & Benefits
- Wage Depending on Experience: $30-$37/hr
- Opportunity for wage progression based on experience, performance, and responsibilities

- Must be able to reliably commute to Hensall, Ontario
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, no LMIA available
