The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Partners and Senior Manager, Senior Accountants work collaboratively with a dedicated team of accounting and administrative professionals. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys working across a range of engagements, producing accurate work, and supporting the development of junior staff pursuing their CPA designation.
Responsibilities
- Preparation and oversight of working paper files and financial statements for compilation, review, and audit engagements
- Preparation and coordination of corporate, personal, trust, and charity tax returns
- Preparation and review of GST/HST, PST, WCB, and related compliance filings
- Review and coaching of junior staff work, including staff accountants in the CPA program
- Monitoring engagement progress and managing client deadlines
- Direct communication with clients and CRA on routine matters
- Collaboration with partners and team members to resolve accounting and tax matters
About You
- Minimum 3 years of post-designation public practice experience as a Senior, with increasing responsibility across client files
- Comfortable working across assurance and tax engagements
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
- Confident reviewing and guiding the work of junior staff
- Clear, professional communicator
- Well organized and able to manage multiple priorities independently
- Approaches problems thoughtfully, with a practical, solution-focused mindset
- Genuine interest in building a long-term career in public practice
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of CaseWare, Taxprep, QuickBooks, Simply Accounting, and Microsoft Office (specifically Excel)
- Experience with ASPE required; IFRS exposure considered an asset
