We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Coordinator will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our Quality Management System (QMS). This role is based at our shops in the Niagara Region.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management
- Coordinate and support the company's Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance with customer, industry, and internal quality standards.
- Assist in developing, maintaining, and improving quality procedures, inspection plans, work instructions, and quality documentation.
- Monitor quality performance metrics and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support internal and external quality audits and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.
Inspection & Quality Control
- Coordinate and perform inspections throughout the fabrication process to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, welding procedures, and customer requirements.
- Inspect incoming materials, in-process fabrication, and finished products in accordance with inspection plans.
- Verify dimensions using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, verniers, depth gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Interpret customer drawings, specifications, welding symbols, and GD&T requirements.
- Ensure products meet or exceed all internal quality standards and customer expectations.
Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
- Investigate quality concerns and fabrication issues.
- Prepare, track, and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Coordinate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action Reports (CARs).
- Work collaboratively with production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions and identify opportunities for process improvements.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain inspection records, quality documentation, material traceability, and customer quality files.
- Create and update quality reference materials based on customer specifications.
- Review Bills of Materials and fabrication documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Analyze quality trends and recommend improvements to manufacturing processes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, rework, and production waste.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing is strongly preferred.
- Post-secondary education in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, or a related discipline is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of inspection techniques and precision measuring equipment.
- Experience preparing NCRs, CARs, and supporting Root Cause Analysis.
- Experience participating in quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or ERP/MRP systems is considered an asset.
