Located in New Westminster, Burnaby and Coquitlam, Pioneer Community Living Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing innovative services and housing options to adults experiencing mild to complex mental health symptoms.
This a unionized position within both BCNU/HSA and part of the Community Subsector Association Agreement - applicants MUST be either an RN/RPN.
This Manager of Care role will work out of our Pioneer House location in New Westminster, which has 20 Residents.
We require applicants to have a minimum of 3-5 years of Psychiatry Nursing supervisory experience.
The successful applicant would be entitled to a 15K hiring bonus.

JOB OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager of Care is responsible for all operations of the residence, including provision of care for adult residents with mental illness.
The Manager of Care is committed to the principles and approaches of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and the Recovery Model. This commitment is demonstrated through knowledge of current psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery model principles and approaches.
The Manager of Care demonstrates the beliefs, personality, temperament, and flexibility required to form trusting partnerships aimed at strengthening resiliency required for recovery from mental health and addictions.
DUTIES:
- Responsible for maintaining a high standard of resident care consistent with the principles and approaches of Pioneer Community Living Association in a manner consistent with all regulatory requirements.
- Supervises a multi-disciplinary staff team, including participation in the hiring and orientation of new staff, and providing feedback to management for performance appraisals.
- Coordinates the development and implementation of individual service and recovery plans, and the maintenance of required records.
- Responsible for the development of nutritional care and oral hygiene plans.
- Establishes and maintains professional contacts with the community and related agencies.
- Oversees the process of referrals, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Develops and delivery of Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) and Recovery focused programs and services.
- Responsible for helping to contribute to the development and implementation of PCLA policies and procedures.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of the theoretical and practical applications of PSR principles and approaches, including the practical application of harm reduction strategies in mental health and addictions.
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to support and mentor staff.
- Personal resilience skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from a recognized post-secondary program in professional nursing including evidence of current practicing registration with the appropriate regulatory body.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in mental health and/or addictions with an emphasis on PSR and Recovery programming.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and skills in a unionized environment.
- Successful Enhanced Criminal record check.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
