Role Overview
We are seeking a Video Editor Coordinator to join our fast-growing media team. This is an entry-level role designed for a passionate editor who wants to learn our systems, hone their craft, and help us scale our content output.
In this role, you will work under the guidance and supervision of our experienced Production team, executing our proven content formulas while bringing fresh creative energy to our motivational videos. In particular, the subject matter of your channel will be Christian Motivation / faith based content.
Core Responsibilities I. Content Creation & Video Editing (60%)
- Long-Form Production: Edit two 10+ minute videos per week, ensuring pacing, tone, and visual storytelling align with the Motiversity brand.
- Curation & Storytelling: Listen to full-length interviews and talks to identify and extract the most inspiring, informative, and eye-opening moments.
- Content Repurposing: Assist in re-editing completed videos from our broader channel network to create fresh, engaging alternative versions.
- Audio Production – Mixing music, speeches, and sound effects using cinematic production techniques to create high-fidelity, movie trailer–style audios for distribution across our YouTube channels and podcast platforms.
- Visual Polish: Add creative text, titles, kinetic typography, and basic graphics to elevate the viewing experience.
- Creative Problem Solving: Ability to independently remove roadblocks in editing and production using creative thinking, competitor research, AI tools, and general knowledge. This role will occasionally require solving problems that do not have a clear or immediate answer, so the ideal candidate should be comfortable taking initiative to find solutions.
II. Platform Optimization, Market Research & Learning (15%)
- Social Media Formatting: Format and re-edit successful YouTube content into optimized versions for our social media channels (including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X/Twitter).
- Trend Analysis: Continually analyze partner and industry videos to see what formats, topics, and styles are currently working.
- Collaborative Planning: Participate in team brainstorming and production sessions to help develop new content strategies and concepts.
- Skills Growth & Training: Actively participate in ongoing training sessions to develop your technical abilities, and continue building foundational professional skills for a career in digital media.
III. Asset Management & Operations (25%)
- Digital File Organization: Keep all raw footage, projects, music tracks, and final renders highly organized and easily accessible within our file management systems.
- Deadlines & Balance: Work efficiently to meet tight production deadlines, understanding how to balance high creative standards with the volume demands of daily digital media production.
- Assigned Duties: Complete additional related media production, team, and coordination tasks as assigned by the leadership team.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Required Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience editing with Adobe Premiere Pro (Preferred) or Final Cut Pro.
- Audio Production: Minimum of 1 year mixing audio or in audio production, which could include experience mixing/mastering music, vocal production, audio engineering, or sound design. It is an asset to have experience matching music pacing and swells with speeches and footage to evoke deep emotional responses.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Google Drive, Google Docs, and Microsoft Excel for asset tracking and team communication.
- Viral Intuition: A foundational understanding of what makes video content engaging and shareable online.
- Personal Alignment: Passionate about self-development, entrepreneurship, thought leadership, and life-improvement content.
- Content: Open to working with and editing videos based around spirituality and religion.
- Work Environment:
- Ability to work remotely using your own high-powered personal laptop or computer capable of handling heavy video editing workflows.
- Ability to work from our Edmonton office on your personal device when required for team collaboration.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Band: $21.00 – $26.00 per hour (commensurate with experience).
