Field Superintendent
New Brunswick | Full-Time
An established civil construction company is seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to lead day-to-day civil construction operations. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for coordinating crews, subcontractors, equipment and materials while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget and to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise field crews and subcontractors.
- Coordinate daily work, manpower, equipment and materials.
- Monitor project schedules, productivity, quality and costs.
- Review construction drawings, specifications and site requirements.
- Lead toolbox meetings, hazard assessments, inspections and safety activities.
- Enforce occupational health and safety requirements and exercise stop-work authority when required.
- Identify and communicate delays, deficiencies, changes and site issues.
- Maintain accurate site records and reports.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspections and equipment.
- Provide leadership, coaching and direction to field personnel.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of civil construction experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role.
- Experience leading construction crews or field operations.
- Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, underground utilities, road construction and concrete.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and survey information.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of New Brunswick OH&S requirements and construction safety practices.
- Comfortable using construction management software and mobile reporting tools.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to job sites.
Assets: CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid, heavy civil/infrastructure experience, and experience managing multiple crews and subcontractors.
Working Conditions
Outdoor, field-based position requiring early starts and variable schedules. May involve overtime, weekends, travel between job sites, remote locations and overnight travel.
Compensation
$90,000–$110,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications, plus applicable benefits.
