Silverfox Framing Ltd. is a rapidly growing structural wood framing contractor specializing in multi-family residential, townhouse, mixed-use, and custom wood-frame construction throughout British Columbia. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Construction Safety Officer (CSO) to join our team and play a key role in maintaining safe, productive, and compliant job sites.
Position Overview
The Construction Safety Officer (CSO) is responsible for promoting and enforcing a strong safety culture across multiple construction projects. Working closely with project managers, site supervisors, foremen, and field crews, you will ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices.
This role requires regular site visits throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, proactive hazard identification, safety training, and ongoing support for our construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections on active framing projects to ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and Silverfox Framing safety standards.
- Identify workplace hazards and implement corrective actions before incidents occur.
- Perform site orientations for new employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety meetings, and ongoing safety education.
- Ensure proper use of PPE, fall protection systems, ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, telehandlers, and other construction equipment.
- Monitor compliance with fall protection, rigging, lifting operations, and wood framing safety procedures.
- Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries, preparing detailed reports and recommendations.
- Maintain all required safety documentation including:
- Daily site inspections
- Hazard assessments
- Toolbox talks
- Safety meeting minutes
- Incident investigations
- Equipment inspections
- Training records
- Assist project managers and site supervisors with project-specific safety plans.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with company policies and client safety requirements.
- Coordinate with general contractors, consultants, and WorkSafeBC representatives when required.
- Assist in emergency preparedness planning and emergency response procedures.
- Promote a positive safety culture by coaching and mentoring workers on safe work practices.
- Ensure all required safety certifications remain current.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 2 years of construction safety experience (wood framing or multi-family construction preferred).
- Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and Occupational Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience conducting site inspections and safety audits.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently across multiple active construction sites.
- Valid BC Driver's Licence and reliable transportation.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred
- Construction Safety Officer (CSO) designation.
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification.
- COR Internal Auditor certification.
- Occupational First Aid Level 2 or 3.
- Fall Protection certification.
- Elevated Work Platform certification.
- Telehandler/Forklift awareness.
- Experience using safety management software such as SiteDocs, HammerTech, Procore, or similar platforms.

Location
Based in Surrey, BC, with regular travel to project sites throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.
