Senior Accountant
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Preparation of financial statements for all engagement types (audits, reviews, compilation) in accordance with ASPE in variety of for profit and NPO organizations
- Exposure to IFRS – public company audits
- Preparation of T1s, T2s, T3s, T3010s, T4s and T5s
- Preparation of GST/HST/PSB returns according to regulatory requirements
- Leading teams on a variety of engagements in both small and large scales, and organizes work effort of teams
- Advises, coaches and support team members by promoting positive learning environment and providing support and feedback
- Handle multiple engagements efficiently and effectively, and effectively plans and organizes own work effort
- Completes tasks within budget and meets time budgets and track variances
- Effective communication with clients, demonstrating ability to identify areas for client service and develop strong networks
- Keeping partners, managers, team members and clients informed on an ongoing basis, of progress and significant issues
- Participate in leadership activities both internally and externally
Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge:
- CPA designation or actively enrolled in the CPA program (midway through or nearing completion) is an asset
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in public accounting
- Strong knowledge of ASPE/ASNPO and knowledge of the ITA
- Strong knowledge of IFRS – public company audits
- Highly proficient PC skills, especially in Excel
- Experience working with accounting and tax software such as CaseWare, Quickbooks, Sage/Simply Accounting, TaxPrep
- Detail orientated work, and able to perform under tight deadlines and with competing priorities in a fast paced environment
- Strong interpersonal, relationship building skills and professionalism
- Strong commitment to continuous learning, and meeting client needs
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task competing priorities
