Backyard Retreats is Calgary's premier landscape construction provider, specializing in new landscape construction, and residential landscape renovations. We are expert installers of patios, decks, fences, retaining walls, and much more.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Landscape Construction Foreman/woman to lead a small team (2-3) of laborers and oversee the installation projects in Calgary & area.
The successful candidate will possess leadership skills, a strong understanding of landscape construction best practices, has a minimum of 2 years of industry experience and the ability to supervise a team effectively.
This full-time position typically works Monday-Friday > 8am-5pm with paid overtime. Due to the nature of the landscape industry, this seasonal position wraps up towards the end of October or early November. There is potential for winter work which can be further discussed with the successful candidate.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Read & Interpret landscape construction plans.
- Laying out the site and setting grades.
- Oversee the day to day site operations.
- Direct & train workers as needed.
- Communicate with clients and management to address any issues.
- Communicate with vendors to order/pickup supplies as needed.
- Operation of motorized tools & equipment.
- Operation of skid-steer, mini-excavator, and company truck/dump trailer as required.
- Maintain compliance with safety practices.
Requirements
- 2 years experience in the landscape construction industry or 3 years in a similar industry.
- Ability to direct workers, delegate and assign tasks.
- Previous experience installing paving stone patios, and segmental retaining walls.
- Previous experience with motorized tools (plate tamper, concrete saw, etc).
- Steel-toed safety boots (other PPE will be provided).
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
- Minimum 1 valid reference.
Assets
- Previous experience working as a foreman/woman.
- Previous experience installing decks/fences.
- Previous experience installing irrigation/lighting.
- Previous experience pulling/backing up a trailer.
- First aid course and/or other safety certifications.

Pay: $26.00-$35.00 per hour
