Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled, hands-on Metal Fabricator & Quality Control Inspector to join our custom fabrication team.
Because we operate as a versatile, medium-sized shop, this is a hybrid role: you will spend part of your time leading quality control processes (inspections, documentation, compliance) and the remainder of your time directly on the shop floor engaged in fitting, fabrication, and structural assembly.
This role is ideal for a certified inspection professional who still enjoys building and wants a dynamic, multi-faceted workday.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control (QC) Duties:
- Conduct visual welding and structural inspections in accordance with shop Quality Management Systems (QMS) and applicable CWB/CSA standards.
- Maintain complete and accurate inspection records, mill test reports (MTRs), dimensional checks, and traveler documentation.
- Oversee material traceability, defect identification, and non-conformance reporting (NCRs).
- Coordinate internal quality processes to ensure compliance with CWB and provincial regulatory standards.
Fabrication & Shop Duties:
- Read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Fit, tack, and assemble complex steel/metal components with precise tolerances.
- Operate standard fabrication equipment
- Work collaboratively with the shop floor team to troubleshoot fit-up or design issues before production.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- CWB Level 1 Inspector Certification (CSA W178.2) – Mandatory minimum requirement.
- Proven experience as a Structural Fitter / Metal Fabricator in a custom or heavy metal shop environment.
- Strong ability to interpret complex shop drawings and structural schematics.
- Solid working knowledge of CSA W59 / W47.1 standards and shop QC documentation requirements.
- Red Seal or Journeyman Welder/Fabricator ticket is considered a strong asset.
- Strong self-starter with good communication skills and high attention to detail.

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 58.0 per week

Education:
- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
Experience:
- Quality inspection: 2 years (preferred)
