Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to lead Fall Prevention Exercise Classes at local Retirement Home. Classes run three days a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30am - 12:00pm (five 30-minute classes back to back). Exercise routines will be provided for each class which include: seated stretches, strengthening, theraband and standing balance exercises holding a chair. Class size ranges from 5-15 residents.
This role requires excellent communication skills, leadership qualities, and a genuine passion for improving the quality of life for our senior community members.
Temporary position of unknown duration. Opportunity afterwards to be on call to fill in on sick/vacation days.
Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming and motivating environment that encourages participation.
- Deliver age-appropriate group exercise classes focused on strength, flexibility, and balance.
- Provide clear instructions and demonstrations to ensure safety and proper technique during all activities.
- Monitor participants during classes to prevent injuries and address any concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and provide feedback to managing Kinesiologist.
Requirements
- Kinesiology Degree or Physiotherapist Assistant certificate an asset but not required.
- Experience in teaching group exercise classes, preferably with seniors or special populations.
- Strong communication skills to clearly instruct participants.
- Ability to manage time efficiently, ensuring classes start and end punctually while maintaining engagement throughout.
- Passion for promoting healthy aging through physical activity.
Pay: $18.00 per hour
