Job Summary: The Retail Butcher is responsible for the cleaning, preparing, cutting, and packaging of speciality halal meats for sale in our grocery store.
Job Responsibilities:
· Cut, trim and prepare standard cuts of halal meats;
· Carve poultry into parts for individual sales;
· Ensure necessary hygiene standards are maintained prior to further preparation and packaging;
· De-bone a variety of halal meat cuts, including poultry, beef, and lamb in compliance with halal preparation guidelines;
· Operate specialty equipment to grind and slice halal meats;
· Weigh, price, wrap and package prepared halal meat cuts;
· Address the retail needs of the store and sell halal meats to customers;
· Take directions from clients who request special orders and prepare said orders; and
· Follow all governmental food safety regulations and company policies, including halal handling and cross-contamination prevention protocols.
Minimum Skills Requirements:
- Completion of Secondary School is required;
- At least two (2) years of experience in working in meat cutting or related roles (i.e. butcher, meat cutter or trimmer) is required;
- Prior experience or knowledge in handling of halal meat is required; and
- Candidate must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment, with strong communication skills and attention to detail.
