GM Rioux, a well-known multi-generational transportation company provides dry, reefer and heater transportation services throughout the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario. Its fleet consists of highway trucks, trailers and other equipment.
We are seeking a qualified technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair our fleet of transport trucks and trailers to ensure maximum uptime, safety, and operational efficiency. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to high safety standards.
Key Duties:
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
- Run advanced diagnostic tests and interpret engine scanning software to identify faults.
- Examine mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems to pinpoint issues in transmissions, steering, fuel, and exhaust systems.
- Test drive and operate equipment to verify repairs and monitor on-road performance.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) including oil changes, lubrication, and tune-ups.
- Repair and replace truck components
- Service trailer-specific systems including axles, suspensions, lighting, and ABS brake systems.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Certification: High school diploma or GED; completion of a vocational/technical diesel mechanic program.
- Journeyman or Red Seal certification is heavily preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience working with diesel engines, commercial trucks, and trailers.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of air brake systems, electrical schematics, hydraulics, and DPF systems.
- Prepare work orders and inspection sheets detailing the problems found and the work completed.
- Track parts inventory and generate parts requests to ensure required components are in stock.
- Communicate with fleet supervisors and leadership regarding vehicle status, potential delays, and future maintenance needs.
- Tooling: Must possess a complete set of standard mechanic’s hand and power tools.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
