Position Overview
The All Trades Helper will support the effective operation, repair, and maintenance of building systems, equipment, and event-related infrastructure at our Centre. In this role, you will assist maintenance personnel across multiple trades, perform general repair tasks, respond to internal service requests, and contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient environment. Working closely with the Maintenance team, you’ll help support day-to-day building operations, assist with event setups and teardowns, and ensure high-quality service to staff, contractors, and guests.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities
- Assists trades personnel with the installation, repair, and maintenance of building structures, fixtures, mechanical equipment, plumbing and electrical systems, and general carpentry.
- Performs routine maintenance on equipment, furnishings, and building service systems; repairs event-related items such as tables, chairs, and staging.
- Supports event operations by assisting with move-ins/outs, exhibit setup, show ingress/egress, and responding to staff and client service requests.
- Orders, organizes, and uses materials, tools, and equipment safely while maintaining clean, orderly work areas.
- Installs signage, banners, and displays as assigned.
- Follows all safety practices and demonstrates professional, courteous conduct when interacting with customers, staff, contractors, and management.
- Responds to emergency calls and performs additional duties within skill level to support other trades as needed.
Job Requirements
- Completion of high school education.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in building or facility maintenance, including the ability to weld, solder, and braze various metals.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team with a strong customer-service focus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with staff, contractors, and management.
- Ability to fulfill the physical demands of the role, including working at heights when required.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Applicant must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Proof of work or student permit, and supporting documentation will be required upon hire.

Salary for this position is in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Convention Centre Corporation and the International Union of Operating Engineers – Local 987.
