North by Northwest Ventures is looking for an experienced Landscape Lead Hand to help NXNW’s construction division. We are looking for an individual who excels in producing quality work and has a breadth of experience with soft and hard landscape applications. You are punctual, creative, and personable.
Reports to: Chief Operations Manager
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise construction activities, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.
- Install hardscape elements, including patios, walkways, retaining walls, and other structures, to specifications.
- Perform softscape tasks such as planting, sod installation, mulching, and garden bed preparation.
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment and tools safely and effectively.
- Ensure adherence to landscape plans, blueprints, and project specifications.
- Oversee quality control to ensure the highest standards of workmanship on all projects.
- Manage daily schedules and assignments for team members to optimize productivity.
- Provide on-site training and mentorship to crew members, fostering skill development and teamwork.
- Communicate effectively with the Supervisor, Project Manager, clients, and team members.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance on tools, vehicles, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Transport tools, equipment, and team members to and from job sites as required.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in landscape construction, including hardscape and softscape installation. (experience in Canada is a must).
- Strong leadership and people management skills with a focus on team development.
- Ability to read and interpret landscape plans and blueprints.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in operating landscaping tools and equipment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation capable of transporting tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards and practices.
