We're seeking a compassionate caregiver to support an independent 76-year-old woman in her home. She's warm, easy-going, and living alone in an apartment while maintaining much of her independence. The family has noticed some mild memory decline and wants to ensure she has regular companionship and practical support.
About the Client:
She's generally independent but experiences occasional dizziness with certain movements like bending. She values her autonomy and responds best to gentle guidance rather than direct instruction. She enjoys conversation, staying active, and maintaining her home but needs support with tasks that have become challenging.
Responsibilities:
- Accompany her on weekly walks for exercise and fresh air
- Guide simple senior exercise routines using light weights in her living room
- Assist with food preparation including chopping and prepping vegetables
- Perform light housekeeping, particularly tasks requiring bending like cleaning the bathtub
- Provide medication reminders as needed
- Offer companionship and natural conversation during visits
- Provide gentle memory prompts and redirection when needed
What We're Looking For:
- A calm, patient caregiver with a gentle demeanor
- Someone who brings positive energy and communicates clearly
- Ability to take the client's lead and encourage her preferences rather than directing activities
- Female caregiver preferred
- English speaking
- Experience with light housekeeping, meal preparation, and senior exercise
- Understanding of working with clients experiencing mild cognitive changes
Schedule:
Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM or 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (2 hours each day). Potential to add Saturday afternoons or additional weekday hours as care progresses. This is a long-term position with consistent weekly hours.
The family is involved and supportive, with the daughter working in London and visiting regularly. They're looking for someone reliable who will become a trusted, consistent presence in their mother's life.
