Bergen Gardens Senior Living is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and service-oriented Senior Living Companion to join our Community Care team. In this role, you will support tenants in maintaining their independence, dignity, and quality of life by providing non-medical assistance and personalized services based on individual care plans. You will play an important role in creating a welcoming, engaging, and supportive community where tenants feel valued, connected, and cared for.
- Escort tenants to and from meals, appointments, and activities within the building.
- Deliver meals to suites and collect dishes following meal service.
- Prepare simple breakfasts in tenant suites as outlined in care plans.
- Assist with household support tasks such as:
- Safety checks
- Garbage removal
- Opening and closing blinds
- Escorting tenants to and from laundry facilities
- Provide companionship and encourage participation in social and recreational activities.
- Support tenants who may be experiencing loneliness, isolation, or reduced mobility.
- Accurately document services provided according to care plans.
- Report tenant concerns, incidents, and safety issues promptly.
- Communicate effectively with tenants, families, team members, and external care providers.
- Follow all health, safety, infection prevention, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Adhere to privacy legislation, organizational policies, and tenant rights.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in hospitality, customer service, tenant services, or a related field.
- Experience in senior care, home care, assisted living, or long-term care is considered an asset.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Comfortable using computers, tablets, and basic technology.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and respect for seniors.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
