Overview
Lola Rosa is seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team to lead the night team through service. Our restaurant is fully planted based, and allows workers to learn a whole new cuisine than the "norm" while positively contribution to the environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food service. As a vital part of our restaurant management, the Sous Chef will oversee daily kitchen operations, ensure food quality standards are met, ensure closing duties are performed properly, lead the cooks to deliver an exceptional service and be a support to the Head Chef. This role offers an exciting opportunity for professional growth within the food industry and hospitality sector.
**Tips are not included in the pay and can represent an extra 1.5 to 3$/ hour
Duties
- Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, including food preparation and cooking processes
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality food service
- Oversee food handling procedures to maintain safety and hygiene standards in accordance with food safety regulations
- Prepare and cook menu items with attention to presentation, taste, and consistency
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to develop their skills and knowledge
- Enforce sanitation standards and maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen area
- Serve as a leader during service hours, ensuring customer satisfaction and resolving any issues promptly
- Be a support to the Head Chef
Qualifications
- MUST have a flexible schedule
- MUST have 1 year proven supervising experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment
- MUST have minimum 3 years kitchen experience
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food industry best practices
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively
- Restaurant management experience
- Knowledge of food safety protocols and proper food handling techniques
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced setting
- Kitchen experience in a high-volume restaurant or similar establishment required
- Passion for culinary arts with a focus on quality and innovation
- Ability to serve guests professionally while maintaining high standards of hospitality
