The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba (LGCA) regulates the province’s liquor, gaming, cannabis, and horse racing industries. We license liquor sales, service and manufacturing, gaming employees, products and operations; retail cannabis stores; and horse racing. We strive to serve the public interest by regulating these industries in a respectful, impartial, and balanced manner.
The LGCA is seeking a highly motivated individual to work within the Information Technology Department, which is part of the Strategic Services and Public Affairs Unit. The Network Administrator is responsible for the support of the LGCA’s computer network to ensure they meet reliability, integrity, performance, scalability and security requirements.
Candidates who do not meet all essential criteria and qualifications may be considered on an underfill basis at the underfill pay grade. In such cases, the candidate will be appointed at a lower classification and pay grade until the required qualifications are met.
- Full working level salary range: $67,614 - $81,780 per annum (6XG)
- Underfill salary range: $64,002 - $78,035 per annum (6XF)
Staff in underfill will perform duties with appropriate supervision and may be eligible for reclassification to the full working level upon demonstration of required competencies, experience, or qualifications, subject to approval and in accordance with the collective agreement.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have:
A degree from a post-secondary institution preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology Business Computing, Engineering or Science.
Three to five years experience in a network, security or IT support role. A combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with staff, clients and stakeholders.
Attention to detail, impartiality and sound judgment, with demonstrated problem-solving, decision- making and analytical skills.
Demonstrated political acumen and respect for others.
Knowledge and experience interpreting and applying policies and requirements.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan, balance and manage multiple work demands and deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft server software and platforms, Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
Strong knowledge and familiarity with security domains, firewalls, networking, cloud solutions, XDRs, and Zero-Trust.
Knowledge and familiarity with capacity planning and disaster recovery planning.
Hardware and software material procurement and maintenance.
The following qualifications are desired:
Training and familiarity with VMware, and specialised Databases (e.g. SQL, MySQL or Microsoft Access)

- Experience with Azure Cloud services, IaaS, SaaS, Intune and hybrid environments and backup
solutions.

Duties:
The Network Administrator is responsible for the support of the LGCA’s computer network to ensure
they meet reliability, integrity, performance, scalability, and security requirements. This includes
server and computer equipment, firewalls, communications hardware and software, telephone lines
and audio-visual equipment. The Network Administrator troubleshoots complex systems and solves
network and security issues.

- An eligibility list may be created for similar positions and will remain in effect for 12 months.

- Must be physically capable of occasional lifting of object weighing 7 to 25 kilograms.
- A satisfactory criminal record check (verified by fingerprints) is a condition of employment.
- A satisfactory driver’s abstract must be produced and maintained.
- A valid Manitoba’s driver’s licence, access to a vehicle and ability to travel periodically throughout
Manitoba are required.
