Classic Landscapes is hiring a reliable, experienced driver to operate our hooklift truck and support our landscape installation crews.
This is a hybrid driving and landscape installation position. Your primary responsibility will be operating our hooklift truck—moving materials, bins and equipment between our shop, suppliers and job sites throughout Winnipeg and the surrounding area.
When trucking demands are lighter, you'll work alongside our landscape installation crews.
Our hooklift truck can be operated with a Class 5 driver's licence, so a Class 1 or Class 3 licence is not required. However, previous experience driving larger trucks is important. Hooklift experience is an asset, but we can train the right experienced driver on the hooklift system.
What You'll Do:
- Safely operate our hooklift truck throughout Winnipeg and surrounding communities
- Pick up and deliver soil, gravel, aggregates and other landscape materials
- Deliver and retrieve hooklift bins
- Transport landscape equipment between our shop and job sites
- Safely load, unload and secure equipment and materials
- Back and maneuver the truck confidently in residential job sites and tight spaces
- Coordinate deliveries with crew leaders and suppliers to keep projects moving efficiently
- Perform daily truck inspections and identify maintenance or safety concerns
- Keep the truck clean and organized
- Assist landscape installation crews when trucking demands are lighter
- Help install patios, retaining walls, sod, trees, garden beds and other landscape features
Who We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone who is reliable, responsible and comfortable working independently.
The right person:
- Has a valid Class 5 driver's licence and a strong driving record
- Has experience driving larger trucks such as dump trucks, moving trucks, flat decks, hooklifts or similar vehicles
- Is confident backing and maneuvering a larger truck
- Takes vehicle, equipment and job-site safety seriously
- Shows up on time and can be counted on
- Communicates well with crew leaders, suppliers and customers
- Is comfortable working independently and managing multiple deliveries throughout the day
- Is willing to help wherever needed rather than sitting in the truck waiting for the next delivery
- Is physically capable of landscape construction work and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Is comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Hooklift experience is an asset but not required. Training on our truck and hooklift system will be provided.
Mechanical knowledge and experience operating landscape or construction equipment are also strong assets.
