On behalf of our client, Victoria Foundation, we are searching for an Accountant to join their Finance team in Victoria, BC. This is a full-time 24-month contract position offering a flexible hybrid work environment.
This role is ideal for a detail-orientated accounting professional who enjoys hands-on bookkeeping and accounting work and takes pride in accuracy, organization and follow-through. Working within a collaborative Finance team, you will support day-to-day financial operations, maintain accurate records and contribute to processes that support the Foundation’s work in community.

- Competitive salary of $45,000 to $60,000per annum, commensurate with your experience.

What you will be doing
- Enter financial transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
- Support payment processing, including transaction review and required reporting.
- Prepare payments for secondary review and processing.
- Complete monthly bank and investment account reconciliations and other month-end activities.
- Prepare the monthly grant slate and assist with donor fund statements.
- Assist with annual audit documentation, tax filings, budget documents and financial reporting.
- Support CRA reporting and filings, including GST, T4A and T3010.
- Maintain financial processes and procedures while contributing to process improvements and established internal controls.
- Respond to financial inquiries and support the Finance team and other Foundation staff as required.

What you bring with you
- Post-secondary education in bookkeeping, finance, accounting or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.
- Minimum one (1) year of recent bookkeeping or accounting support experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.
- Experience working with financial and accounting systems.
- Working knowledge of GAAP, ASNPO and CRA reporting requirements and filings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
