YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute and adjust the production schedule to meet delivery dates.
- Review work-in-progress at shift start and ensure continuity of priorities from the Shop Manager.
- Communicate schedule changes and priorities to Leads and Purchasing as required to meet overall goals.
- Work closely with the shop checker for in-process and incoming materials, welders, BOM puller, passivation department, and shipping department to ensure all processes, equipment, and personnel are running efficiently and safely.
- Monitor equipment condition during the shift and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Remain in a continuous training mode and actively monitor work quality across departments during afternoon operations.
- Prepare or verify shipping lists as required and ensure personnel are aware of completion expectations.
- Mentor designated employees toward becoming well-trained lead hands, with a focus on second-shift coverage.
- Complete end-of-shift reporting, documenting production status, issues, and priorities to management
- Conduct formal shift handoff communication to the Shop Manager or leadership.
- Apply a common-sense approach to efficiently planning the afternoon workload and balancing the production process across shift change.
- Portray sound leadership during second shift operations and act as the primary decision-maker on the floor after standard daytime hours.
- Maintain a positive, big-picture approach to effective problem solving and decision making, especially for issues requiring overnight resolution.
- Develop and maintain a disciplined workforce and orderly environment during the afternoon shift.
- Ensure employees are treated with respect and courtesy and are given opportunities to learn and grow with the company.
- Provide a safe, organized, and clean work environment throughout the shift.
- Achieve high levels of efficiency and productivity during afternoon operations.
- Support Management in implementing new methods, direction, and strategies; work closely with the Shop Manager and coordinate with the General Manager as needed.
OUR REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a fabrication/welding environment
- Previous experience in a fabrication shop, manufacturing, or other related fields
- Knowledge of operating screen machines, lathe machine, CNC machine, hand and power tools, TIG Welding
- Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and mentor employees
- Must have experience of managing shop workers
- Excellent written and spoken skills
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- TIG welding experience
