Giercrest Farms is a modern dairy farm just outside Hickson, ON, and we're looking for a reliable, hardworking person to join our team. We're open to hiring either a part-time night milker or a full-time dairy farm employee, depending on the right candidate.
Option 1 – Part-Time Night Milker
Regular Schedule
- Monday, Tuesday & Friday nights
- 7:30–11:30 PM
- Weekend morning, afternoon, and night milking shifts are also included in the duties of this role. A reasonable amount of flexibility between the candidates schedule and current staff's schedule.
Responsibilities
- Milking cows
- Bringing cows into the holding area
- Pushing feed with a skid steer
- Scraping alleys and bedding sawdust stalls
- Washing down the parlour after milking
Our established one-person milking routine can typically be completed independently in 3.5–4 hours with previous milking experience.
Option 2 – Full-Time Dairy Farm Employee
We're also looking for someone interested in a long-term role on our farm.
We're currently exploring a rotating schedule of 6 days on, 3 days off, alternating between:
- 5:15 AM – 2:15 PM
- 2:15 PM – 11:15 PM
This is a new scheduling model we're considering and are happy to discuss with the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Milking cows
- Feeding and caring for livestock
- Cleaning barns, pens, and alleys
- Operating skid steers and other farm equipment
- Bedding stalls
- Power washing and maintaining farm facilities
- Basic equipment maintenance
- General day-to-day dairy farm duties
About the Farm
- 150 Holstein cows milked 3× daily
- Double-8 parallel parlour
- Modern, organized operation with established routines
Compensation
Part-Time Milker
- Starting at $95 per milking (approximately $23.75–$27.15/hour)
- Increases to $120 per milking (approximately $30.00–$34.30/hour)
Full-Time Employee
- Competitive wage based on experience and responsibilities (minimum $24/hour starting wage).
Raises are based on performance, reliability, and long-term commitment.
What We're Looking For
- Previous dairy or milking experience preferred (training available for the right candidate)
- Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
- Comfortable working independently and with livestock
- Please consider your commute—travel over 30 minutes can be challenging, particularly during winter.
