Overview
We are seeking a friendly and professional Host/Hostess to join our hospitality team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for guests, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. This role is essential in creating a positive dining experience and supporting the overall operations of our restaurant or hotel. Prior experience in food service or hospitality is preferred, but a positive attitude and strong communication skills are most important. The Host/Hostess will be responsible for managing reservations, greeting guests, and coordinating seating arrangements to optimize guest flow.
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests warmly and provide excellent guest services to ensure a positive first impression
- Manage reservations and waitlists efficiently using POS systems such as Micros POS or similar platforms
- Escort guests to their tables and assist with seating arrangements to maximize comfort and efficiency
- Answer phone inquiries with professional phone etiquette, taking reservations or providing information about services
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand area
- Coordinate with serving staff and kitchen team to ensure smooth service flow
- Handle guest inquiries or concerns promptly, demonstrating strong communication skills and hospitality expertise
- Assist in maintaining a welcoming environment by adhering to hospitality standards and ensuring guest satisfaction
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant, or hotel environments is preferred but not required
- Strong guest services skills with a friendly demeanor and professional attitude
- Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with restaurant POS systems such as Micros POS or similar platforms is a plus
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of hospitality standards and customer service best practices
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
