About the Role
The Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable (AP & AR) Clerk is responsible for managing the company's day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring timely processing of vendor invoices, collections, and payment reconciliation. The successful candidate will maintain accurate financial records, support month-end procedures, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the accounting department.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Process and verify vendor invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports.
- Match invoices to supporting documentation and obtain required approvals.
- Prepare and process vendor payments
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized and accurate accounts payable records and filing systems.
- Monitor payment schedules to ensure timely payments and avoid late fees.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Record customer payments and apply them to the appropriate accounts.
- Monitor outstanding accounts and follow up on overdue balances.
- Prepare accounts receivable aging reports for management review.
General Accounting Duties
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Assist with account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Filing and maintaining client folders,
- Recording various revenue invoices, as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
- Ordering & upkeep on office supplies
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting.
- Experience with QuickBooks accounting software or similar is considered an asset
Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position, 30hrs/week 1 year contract with potential to become permanent
- In-Office-work environment
- Occasional overtime may be required during month-end or year-end periods.
