Position Summary:
Peace Country Rentals is seeking a motivated and dedicated Yard Hand to join our team in Fort St. John. The Yard Hand will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to the organization, maintenance, and preparation of our rental equipment. This is a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our yard and the efficient delivery of equipment to our valued customers.
Responsibilities:
- Organizing and maintaining the yard, ensuring equipment is stored safely and efficiently.
- Loading and unloading rental equipment from trucks, ensuring accuracy and safety.
- Inspecting returned equipment for damage and reporting any issues.
- Cleaning, washing, and fueling equipment as needed.
- Performing basic equipment checks to ensure it is in good working order.
- Assisting customers with equipment loading and unloading as needed.
- Assisting with inventory control and yard organization.
- Following all company safety procedures and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned by the Yard Foreman or Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
- Valid driver's license is preferred.
- Experience operating equipment such as forklifts is an asset (but not always required - we may provide training).
- Mechanical aptitude is an asset.
- Previous experience in a similar role or in the rental industry is an asset.
Working Conditions:
- This position involves working primarily outdoors in a yard environment.
- The work may be physically demanding, requiring lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- The work environment may involve exposure to dirt, dust, noise, and various weather conditions.
- Safety is a high priority, and all employees are required to follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
