Position Summary: The Structural Steel Drafter is responsible for creating detailed drawings and plans for steel structures used in construction projects. This role works closely with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to ensure designs are accurate, compliant, and ready for production and installation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed shop drawings, erection drawings, and fabrication drawings for structural steel components
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints Use drafting software such as AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, or SDS/2 to create 2D and 3D models
- Produce accurate material lists and bills of materials (BOMs) Coordinate with engineers, architects, and contractors to resolve design issues
- Revise drawings based on feedback, field changes, or project updates Ensure all drawings meet industry standards, codes, and project requirements
- Assist in project planning by identifying potential design conflicts early Maintain organized records of drawings and revisions
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Diploma or certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field or equivalent combination of work experience.
- Experience with structural steel detailing software (Tekla, AutoCAD, SDS/2 preferred)
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication and construction processes
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Knowledge of building codes and industry standards

Pay: $18.86-$38.38 per hour
