General
1. Promote the image, mission and professionalism of the College and the Office of Global Engagement (OGE) through effective support, application processing and communications with our international applicants and where applicable, agents and regional representatives.
2. Review and evaluate international transcripts using available tools to determine eligibility of entrance requirements.
3. Liaise and provide clear communication with internal contacts within North Island College divisions, departments, faculty, staff and students as well as liaison and communication with external contacts and representatives from other post-secondary institutions, funding and sponsoring agencies, external organizations, and the general public about international admissions processes at NIC.
4. Provide educational information to all applicants where appropriate.
5. Collaborate with the OGE management team in planning, developing, and implementing operational goals and objectives related to admissions.
6. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Strategic Business & International Development.
Application Review and Adjudication
The IAO will:
1. Be responsible for the full admission cycle from receipt of application to the issuance of the Letter of Acceptance.
2. Work with the Executive Director, Strategic Business & International Development, Manager, Strategic Business & International Development, Assistant Registrar, International Admissions team, and other OGE team members to develop, implement, and maintain best practices in terms of admissions procedures and provide expert admissions knowledge and training to other members of the International Admissions team, specifically related to International applicants. Determine eligibility for all students applying for admission based on knowledge of admissions processes at NIC, and at other post-secondary systems both nationally and internationally.
3. Provide educational information to all applicants where appropriate.
4. Review and verify credentials of applicants and identifies possible fraudulent documents for referral to the AR; uses Internet, personal contacts, , and professional evaluators in research process;
5. Screen applications and credentials for compliance with admission requirements.
6. Admit qualified applicants and when required submits for screening to NIC’s faculties/schools for final approval;
7. Monitor international student program seat availability and waitlists students in limited entry programs where necessary;
8. Reviews Admissions procedures and systems for ways of improving services and makes recommendations to the Executive Director, Strategic Business & International Development .
9. Assists the Executive Director, Strategic Business & International Development, Manager, Strategic Business & International Development and Assistant Registrar with identifying and establishing Admissions and/or Enrolment Management systems requiring improvement or development;
10. Provides input on discussions pertaining to systems and policy development on student administration issues, including participation as required in various committees and working groups.
Reports and Queries
1. Provides reports for OGE management, weekly, monthly and as requested, related to international student admission statistics;
Communication
1. Provides information on admissions, prerequisites, application process, etc., to overseas education agents/representatives;
2. Handles enquiries from students and representatives regarding progress on individual applications, in compliance with the Freedom of Information and Privacy legislation;
3. Keep apprised of OGE’s recruitment strategies, recruitment targets and goals;
4. Keep current with all program changes;
5. In support of building strong, positive working relationships with agents and regional representatives, works collaboratively with the Manager, Strategic Business & International Development to identify agent support and training needs.
6. Respond to Admission related enquiries from agents and / or partners within a time frame agreed with the Executive Director, Strategic Business & International Development, Manager, Strategic Business & International Development and Assistant Registrar.
7. Liaise, as appropriate with colleagues in other services, such as International Student Advisors and other OGE team members to ensure that students receive the most customer-friendly support before and after arrival on-campus.
