Alta Drywall Solutions Inc. is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and safety-focused Construction Labourer – Scrap Removal & Delivery to join our growing team.
This position is primarily responsible for collecting and disposing of drywall scrap and construction debris from residential and commercial job sites, completing final site cleanups, and ensuring projects are left clean, safe, and organized. When required, the successful candidate will also deliver materials to job sites and assist with general warehouse and yard operations.
The ideal candidate enjoys a combination of driving and physical work, has a strong work ethic, and takes pride in providing dependable service while maintaining a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a company truck safely and in accordance with all traffic laws and company policies.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck is safe and roadworthy.
- Complete and maintain daily vehicle inspection logbooks, documenting inspections, defects, maintenance requirements, and repairs.
- Report vehicle defects, maintenance requirements, or safety concerns promptly to the office.
- Remove drywall scrap and other construction debris from residential and commercial job sites.
- Scrape floors after taping work to remove excess drywall compound and prepare surfaces for final cleanup or flooring installation.
- Complete final job site cleanups, including sweeping, collecting debris, and leaving work areas clean, safe, and presentable.
- Clean, sort, stack, and separate salvageable materials for reuse or recycling.
- Load, transport, and dispose of construction waste and recyclable materials at designated disposal or recycling facilities.
- Load, transport, and unload materials and related products for deliveries and follow any special delivery instructions as required.
- Operate forklifts or pallet jacks when qualified and authorized.
- Assist with general warehouse and yard duties when deliveries and scrap pickups are complete.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe vehicle, work area, and yard.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, warehouse staff, customers, and job site personnel.
- Follow all company health and safety policies and immediately report hazards, incidents, or near misses.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence.
- Clean driving abstract (required).
- Previous experience in construction, delivery driving, or general labour is considered an asset.
- Forklift certification or operating experience is an asset.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, including lifting, loading, unloading, sweeping, floor scraping, and handling construction debris.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
- Ability to drive for extended periods when required.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position.
- Monday to Friday.
- Early morning starts and variable hours depending on project schedules.
- Combination of driving, construction site work, warehouse duties, and physical labour.
