Gateway Group renovates homes, builds new ones, and runs a construction company Hamilton homeowners trust. We're rebuilding our residential renovation division, and this Project Sales Consultant role is one of our most important hires this year.
The Role
This is a hunter role. You'll build your own pipeline through outbound prospecting, referrals, and networking (roughly 70-80% of your consultations), supplemented by inbound leads from our Inside Sales Agent. You'll run on-site discovery, hand specs off to our Project Operations Coordinator for pricing, then present proposals and close deals. A dedicated Project Sales Consultant will shadow you through onboarding, and our POC builds every proposal — your job is to bring in the work and close it.
What You'll Do
Generate consultations through outbound prospecting, referrals, and network cultivation
Conduct on-site discovery: measurements, specs, photos, and client priorities
Present proposals, handle objections, and close signed contracts
Keep your pipeline current in GHL and participate in weekly reviews
Your First 90 Days
Shadow our current Project Sales Consultant, then run your first solo consultations by end of month one
Close your first signed contract by end of month two
By month three: consistently generating 2+ qualified self-sourced consultations per week, 6+ proposals sent, and $750K+ in qualified pipeline
How Success Is Measured
Self-sourced and total consultations booked
Proposals sent and close rate
Signed revenue and average gross profit margin on closed deals
Discovery accuracy (proposals accepted without rework)
What You'll Need
3+ years of sales experience in residential construction/renovation, OR hands-on construction experience (PM, foreman, estimator) with client-facing responsibility and readiness to move into sales
Proven ability to build a pipeline from scratch
Comfort reading a job site and translating client vision into project scope
Strong CRM discipline and self-management
Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
Nice to Have: GHL experience, an existing Hamilton-area network, experience selling renovation projects $75K+
Compensation
Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission tied to signed contract value and gross profit margin — bigger, healthier deals pay more. Includes a $200/month vehicle & fuel allowance and $50/month phone stipend. No draw or ramp period; base starts day one.
Location & Schedule
Field-based across Hamilton and surrounding areas, with regular office presence for team meetings. Monday-Friday, with occasional evenings/weekends for client availability.
