Job Title: Welder-Fabricator
Department: Manufacturing
Reports To: Manufacturing Lead
Position Overview
The Welder-Fabricator plays a key role in the manufacturing and assembly of custom industrial automation equipment, machinery, and system components. This position involves fabricating, welding, and metal parts and structures based on CAD drawings, and project specifications. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical fitting and welding skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, machinists, and machine builders.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication and Welding
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, CAD drawings and technical schematics for automation system components and machine frames.
- Fabricate frames, guards, conveyor sections, machine bases, and structural components for automated equipment.
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on materials including primarily mild steel but also stainless steel and aluminum.
- Measure, cut, fit, and assemble metal parts using cutting torches, plasma cutters, saws, grinders, and other fabrication tools.
- Ensure all welds meet company standards, tolerances, and quality requirements. Adhere to tight tolerances and precise alignment during fit-up and tack welding operations.
- Fit and align fabricated components with mechanical and electrical assemblies to ensure accurate installation.
- Work with engineering teams to make design improvements or modifications for fabrication.
Quality and Safety
- Inspect completed welds and fabricated components for defects, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. (No sharp edges, cleaned and prepped for paint)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following company safety policies and procedures.
- Follow proper procedures for handling and storage of materials and welding gases.
Equipment and Maintenance
- Operate fabrication machinery (hand grinders, band saws, etc.) as needed.
- Operate forklifts, cranes, and material-handling equipment safely.
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on welding and fabrication equipment.
- Ensure proper calibration and care of welding machines and tools.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with engineers, machinists, and machine builders to meet project deadlines and requirements.
- Communicate progress, issues, and material needs to Manufacturing Lead.
- Contribute to team meetings focused on process improvement and project updates.
Familiarity with automation systems, robotics, or machine building is an asset.

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
