Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Edgebander Setup & Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining our automated edgebanding machinery. You will ensure every component—from PVC and ABS edgebanding to high-end thick wood veneers—is applied with seamless joints, exact tolerances, and flawless quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setup & Tooling: Set up, calibrate, and fine-tune edgebander parameters (gluer station, pressure rollers, end-trimmers, top/bottom trimmers, corner rounders, scrapers, and buffing units) based on material types and thickness.
- Operation & Production: Feed milled panel components efficiently while visually inspecting finished edges for proper glue line density, edge trim accuracy, and smooth corner rounding.
- Material Handling: Work with diverse materials including MDF, particleboard, plywood, high-pressure laminates (HPL), wood veneers, and various edge tapes (0.5mm to 3mm PVC/ABS, solid wood striping).
- Quality Assurance: Verify part dimensions, squareness, and edge finishes against CAD/CAM shop drawings and cut lists. Ensure strict quality control fitting Estate Interiors’ luxury standards.
- Routine Maintenance: Perform daily/weekly preventive maintenance on edgebanding machinery, including cleaning glue pots/appliances, changing blades, sharpening cutters, clearing dust/chips, and checking pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and correct operational issues such as telegraphing, loose tape adhesion, glue squeeze-out, panel chipping, or misaligned corner rounding.
- Shop Integration: Collaborate closely with CNC operators, bench carpenters, and assembly technicians to maintain smooth workflow and meet project timelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2–3+ years of hands-on experience setting up and operating commercial edgebanders (e.g., Holz-Her/HOMAG, Biesse, IMA, etc.) in a custom millwork or architectural cabinetry environment.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of hot-melt adhesives (EVA / PUR), tooling profiles, pneumatic adjustments, and feed speeds. Ability to read shop drawings, cut lists, and metric/imperial measurements accurately.
- Detail-Oriented: A strict eye for quality—rejecting chip-outs, telegraphing, or glue lines that fail luxury residential/commercial standards.
- Physical Capability: Ability to stand for long periods, maneuver panel materials (up to 50 lbs unassisted), and work comfortably in an active shop environment.
- Safety Mindset: Strict adherence to PPE guidelines, lockout/tagout procedures, and general workshop safety practices.
- Hours: May be required to work afternoon shift or extra hours as the business conditions requires.
Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
