Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and attentive Restaurant Server / Bartender to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring guests have a memorable dining experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, strong communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Previous restaurant experience and familiarity with POS systems are preferred but not required. This position offers an opportunity to develop your skills in food service and hospitality while contributing to a welcoming atmosphere for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and provide attentive service throughout their visit
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using Square of Restaurants POS systems
- Serve food and drinks promptly while maintaining presentation standards
- Handle cash transactions accurately, including cashiering and cash handling duties
- Ensure food safety and proper food handling procedures are followed at all times
- Maintain cleanliness of the service area, including tables, bar, and workstations
- Assist in setting up dining areas and preparing for service shifts
- Respond to guest inquiries professionally and resolve any issues promptly
- Uphold high standards of hospitality, ensuring a positive guest experience
Skills
- Previous restaurant or food industry experience required
- Proficiency with POS systems such as Square POS or similar platforms
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities in busy settings
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Basic math skills for cashiering, billing, and making change accurately
- Ability to serve alcohol responsibly and adhere to legal requirements for serving alcohol. Must have the Holland College Responsible Beverage Service Program certificate.
- Effective communication skills to interact with guests and team members seamlessly
- Hospitality mindset with a focus on creating a welcoming environment for all patrons
- Knowledge on Jamaican and/or Caribbean culture would be considered an asset.
Pay: $17.20 per hour
