This is not a "sit around and wait for clients" position. Engineers are expected to actively contribute to studio growth through networking, outreach, social media, and delivering an exceptional client experience. Those looking only to record music without helping grow the business are not a good fit.
What Success Looks Like
- Consistently deliver clean, professional recordings with minimal supervision.
- Build strong relationships with artists that lead to repeat bookings.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional studio environment.
- Arrive prepared before every session.
Performance Expectations
- 10 qualified outreach attempts per week (must be tracked).
- 2–3 collaborative social media posts per week.
- Maintain a minimum client satisfaction standard.
- Punctuality is mandatory. Repeated lateness will result in termination.
Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must live within a reasonable distance of the studio.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must be available evenings and weekends.
- Must be comfortable working with hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats, dancehall, and other urban genres.
Technical Skills
- Strong Pro Tools editing workflow.
- Ability to comp vocals.
- Melodyne experience is an asset.
- Auto-Tune knowledge.
- Understanding of gain staging.
- Session organization and file management.
- Basic troubleshooting of studio equipment.
- Experience with Universal Audio, Apollo interfaces, or similar equipment is an asset.
Professional Standards
- No alcohol or drug use while working.
- Confidentiality regarding artists and unreleased music.
- Respectful attitude toward all clients.
- Must maintain a clean appearance and professional communication.
Qualifications and Skills
- Good social skills to help enhance artist creativity
- 1-3 years experience using pro tools along with knowledge of recording and mixing audio
- Knowledge of pre-amps, microphones, and outboard recording gear to provide a pristine sound for artist
