Cambrian College’s Centre for Smart Mining requires a regular part time Senior Instructional Designer -Industrial Training Solutions.
Note: Internal candidates, as defined by the Part-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement, will be given first consideration.
Reporting to the Manager, the incumbent will coordinate technology-enabled, course design projects that focus on talent gaps int eh Canadian mining sector and across industrial sectors with skills profiles that are in-demand or critically under-staffed. The incumbent will also:

Participate in the development of AODA-compliant courses and learning objectives in online formats compatible with the existing LMS and aligned with appropriate educational technologies

Participate in the day-to-day running of Corporate Training instructional design projects, including acting as the intake coordinator for instructional design-related requests for service and coordinating details of large-scale instructional design projects

Provide guidance, coordination, and direction to some members of the Corporate Training Instructional Design Team including scheduling of work assignments and projects

Remain apprised of emergent trends within the fields of mining technology, online learning, mobile learning and adult learning theory.
Required

A minimum of a three-year postsecondary diploma/degree or equivalent. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)

Minimum of three years of experience working with learning management systems, and web-based authoring tools related to education and training.

Experience applying the requirements of Ontario AODA legislation to the creation of educational materials.

Experience creating course outlines, assessment strategies and teaching college-level students.

Excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills.

Strong understanding of copyright legislation.

Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated diplomacy and tact.

Must be a self-starter with strong organizational and time-management skills and the ability to multi-task.

Commitment to working within a team environment.
Assets/Preferred:

Master’s degree specializing in Instructional Design or Educational Technologies
-
Graduate Certificate (post baccalaureate) or diploma in Instructional Design.

Formal training in adult learning theory, web or multimedia development
